01 — About the client
About the*gamehers
the*gamehers is a global community for women and femme-identifying gamers — and allies who show up with respect. The mission is simple: Play. Learn. Lead.
The app is an inclusive, harassment-aware space to chat for hours, find squad mates at any hour, join interest-based groups, and attend live events and educational programs.
Level Up extends the experience with premium channels, exclusive events, badges, and digital cosmetics — a deeper way to connect without compromising the community vibe.
Safety by design
Whether you identify as a woman, femme, trans, nonbinary, man, masc, or another gender — the*gamehers welcomes members who geek out about games inclusively. Community guidelines and moderation support a diverse, harassment-free environment for all genders.
02 — The challenge
Fragmented spaces, toxic corners, and premium perks that had to earn trust — not break it.
Solo queue is lonely
Finding like-minded players across titles like Overwatch 2 and Marvel Rivals — without toxic DMs, dead Discords, or guessing who's actually online to play.
Inclusive is easy to say, hard to ship
Community guidelines, moderation, and onboarding had to make safety feel real — not a footer link — for women, femme, trans, nonbinary, and ally members alike.
Community + monetization, balanced
Level Up subscriptions, partner campaigns, and premium events needed to feel like perks for members — not pay-to-win dynamics that erode trust.
03 — How we worked
Our process
Six phases, one shared roadmap — built like a product the community opens every day, not a one-off launch.
- Phase 01
Discovery & research
Interviews with streamers, squad players, and event attendees. Mapped pain points across Discord, Twitch, and mainstream gaming social apps.
- Phase 02
Strategy & architecture
Defined the four pillars — Connect, Events, Groups, Level Up — plus moderation models, event cadence, and subscription boundaries.
- Phase 03
UX design & prototype
Wireframes and clickable flows for onboarding, group discovery, event RSVP, and the “anyone want to squad up?” moment — tested with real community members.
- Phase 04
Visual & brand system
Extended the*gamehers identity across app UI, marketing surfaces, and campaign art — dark-first, bold type, and the signature asterisk mark.
- Phase 05
Engineering & build
Mobile community experience plus marketing and campaign surfaces — chat, groups, events, and subscription flows integrated end to end.
- Phase 06
Launch & iterate
PowHER Play events, Awards programming, ambassador growth, and partner activations — shipped on a rhythm driven by community feedback.
